Jersey Shore has had its share of devastating fires, whether it be the ship fire off the coast of Asbury Park that consumed the Morro Castle, the deadly fire at Great Adventure, or the fires that swept through the towns of Seaside Park and Ocean Grove.

Leading women's health organization wants to make self-care a priority

According to a survey of 1,000 women ages 30 to 60 from HealthyWomen, the nation’s leading not-for-profit women’s health organization, GCI Health and Redbook Magazine, 66 percent of women feel they are only “somewhat in control” of their own health. Another 77 percent said they are not getting regular screenings and check-ups because their jobs prevent them from doing so, and 90 percent described their stress levels as “moderate to high.”

Jackson police rescue elderly woman from carbon monoxide poisoning

JACKSON- An elderly woman was rescued from the potentially deadly effects of carbon monoxide poisoning Thursday night after township police responded to a welfare check, police said. Officers were sent to a home on Wild Dunes Way at about 7:30 p.m. to check on the welfare of a 78-year-old woman after her son told police he hadn't heard from his mother in a few hours and didn't have a key to get inside her home, according to a Facebook post from Jackson police.
